1st meeting with stakeholders

The development of the critical mass of the innovation ecosystem means that the cooperation between universities and enterprises, the exchange of experiences between clusters, the establishment of interregional cooperation networks, science and education , are identified and put into practice step by step, thus ensuring the stable and sustainable development of the system. In the Northern region of Portugal the i-WATERMAP Project is coordinated by the University of Minho and focuses on the identification of innovation opportunities in water technology in the agro-food sector, covering the whole water cycle in this industrial sector. It includes the recovery of resources from by-products in line with the designs of the circular economy in the sector. Advanced technologies for process water production will also be identified to eliminate hidden threats such as antibiotic resistance, presence of emerging contaminants or microplastics.
