Tuberculosis (TB) is an infectious disease that represents a serious health problem worldwide. This condition is caused mainly by Mycobacterium tuberculosis, a bacterium that can manage to evade the immune response, surviving inside macrophages. Globally, TB incidence, prevalence and mortality are decreasing, however, drug resistance to the current treatments makes TB eradication progressively challenging.
