Nelson Lima awarded with the title of Professor Honoris Causa at UF Pernambuco, Brazil

Nelson Lima was nominated Professor Honoris Causa, proposed by the Plenum of the Department of Mycology of the Federal University of Pernambuco (Recife, Brazil) as a recognition on his work in the Biological Resources in Brazil.
His research field is related with food and environmental mycology and fungal biotechnology. Since 1996 he is head of the Portuguese Culture Collection of Filamentous Fungi Micoteca da Universidade do Minho-MUM, which is hosted at CEB Centre of Biological Engineering. He has been evaluator or consultant of different funding agencies in Europe and Latin America. He has been partner of several EU, Portuguese and Brazilian research funding projects, with a remarkable and dedicated collaboration with researchers from the Brazilian State of Pernambuco.
