The 50th WDCM Anniversary

The European Culture Collections’ Organisation (ECCO) was represented last week in Beijing, China, by its President Nelson Lima and director of Micoteca da Universidade do Minho (MUM,) hosted by the Biological Engineering Centre (CEB), at the celebrations of 50th Anniversary of World Data Center for Microorganisms (WDCM).

The European Culture Collections’ Organisation (ECCO) was represented last week in Beijing, China, by its President Nelson Lima and director of Micoteca da Universidade do Minho (MUM,) hosted by the Biological Engineering Centre (CEB), at the celebrations of 50th Anniversary of World Data Center for Microorganisms (WDCM).

During the Celebrations ECCO signed a Memorandum of Understanding for the International Collaboration between WDCM and ECCO where the parties agreed to exercise their best efforts to encourage and promote cooperation in fields of mutual interests on microbiological resources in the following principles:

-Exchange of microbial databases between ECCO and WDCM and on-site visitor between two organizations.

-Development of a microbial resources management platform in order to facilitate data management and culture exchange.

-Cooperation on publishing ECCO microbial resources data catalogue on WDCM Global Catalogue of Microorganisms (GCM), and analysis by Analyzer of Bio-resource Citations system (ABC) to generate the WDCM report of culture collection.

-WDCM provide supports for training on data management system.

-Exchange of experts and assistance in training of personnel.

Meanwhile to mark the WDCM jubilee a “Beijing Declaration on Microbial Resources Information Sharing“ was adopted.
