BRIDGE is one of the main players of the Portuguese R&D on Environmental Biotechnology. BRIDGE research is in line with the policy priorities of the Europe 2020 strategy, specifically in the societal challenge “climate action, environment, resource efficiency and raw materials” concerning the environmental pressure on minerals, metals, energy, water, fertile soils, clean air, biomass and biodiversity by the intensive use of resources. BRIDGE aims at promoting the efficient use of resources which makes business sense, and contributes to the EU's agenda for global competitiveness, by decoupling future economic progress from resource constraints.
The mission of BRIDGE- Bioresources, bioremediation, biorefinery group is to underpin the transition from a linear to a circular economy by generating, applying and disseminating knowledge and transfer technology in the field of Environmental Biotechnology. BRIDGE has an inspiring research environment based on multidisciplinary cooperation and scientific excellence providing continuous challenges that are embraced with rigor and joy.
Being so, the group is divided into 3 sub-groups, each one corresponding to a main scientific domain.
