The intensive programme aims at providing a sound scientific and technological background on the use of microbial films in the degradation of pollutant substances, both in water and in air.
The course will provide 40 hours of theoretical classes and 40 hours of practical classes, during 2 weeks. The participants will be introduced to the fundamentals of biofilm science and of biofilm reactors, including the design and operation of this type of equipment in effluent treatment plants. Case studies will be discussed based on actual experience obtained in southern European countries such as Portugal, Spain and Italy.
