After a significant progress in several areas, there is a growing interest of geotechnics, in particular of environmental geotechnics, by the innovation opportunities of integrating nanotechnology in this sector. Among the areas of environmental geotechnics that can mostly benefit form the utilization of nanotechnology, the pollution prevention, soil remediation, pollution monitoring, and waste reuse, can be highlighted.
As in any technological area that utilizes new materials and chemical substances, nanotechnology can bring some risks to the environment and public health. Therefore these aspects will be also discussed in this workshop.
