Other Group Research Labs

At the Environmental Microbiology Lab (LMAMB), the main research activities deal with:

  • the microbiology and ecology of activated-sludge processes, including the relationships between different communities and the effect of emergent biocides in the performance of wastewater treatment plants.
  • the use of diatoms for aquaculture purposes, including the study of strategies to improve their culture and characterization.
  • the intensification of cultivation of Nitrosomonas sp and Nitrobacter sp , attempting to construct artificial stable consortia to improve the nitrification/denitrification processes.
  • the development of new recombinant DNA technologies with the help of nanotechnology to simplify transformation of bacteria, namely anaerobes.
