PDEQuiBio - PhD Program in Chemical and Biological Engineering

General Information

The scientific domain of the program is that of Chemical and Biological Engineering. The realization of The PDEQuiBio consists of a curricular component, with 60 ECTS, and in the preparation of a Doctoral Thesis with 180 ECTS. The completion of the curricular component will confer a Diploma of Advanced Studies in Chemical and Biological Engineering, with the final classification obtained from the classifications of the curricular units that constitute the study plan.

Description

The structuring objective of the Doctoral Program in Chemical and Biological Engineering is to promote excellence and research in topics of Chemical and Biological Engineering, with emphasis on its theoretical foundations, including specification, design, modeling, representation and exploration of systems chemical and biological processes, as well as the integration of associated technologies. It is intended that the PhDs in Chemical and Biological Engineering, in addition to consolidating their basic training in the traditional areas of intervention of Chemical and Biological Engineering, acquire the ability to face challenges in emerging areas such as Molecular Biotechnology, Functional Genomics, Systems Biology and Nanotechnology.
